Fans of Cambridge City Football Club are getting ready to take part in the 2016 Sawston Fun Run, which takes place on Sunday 15 May.

This will be the second consecutive year that supporters of the Lilywhites have taken part in the largest community lead fundraising event in Cambridgeshire.

The event has added significance as it is taking place in the same location where City's new home is currently being built with the fun run this year forming part of their community programme in Sawston.

City Press Officer Andrew Dunn said "The event last year was really enjoyable and everyone who took part had a great time. We are keen to engage with the local community and will be looking to have a presence at more events within Sawston as we continue to raise our profile. In addition to the fun run last year, we were one of the supporters of the Sawston Flower Festival but our community plans had to be put on hold in recent times due to the judicial review, but given the positive outcome of that we now want to push on and increase awareness of the club as the momentum builds towards the club moving to its new home".

Anyone wishing to take part can choose between a 4.6 or a 2.5 mile course with the latter designed for walkers. If you are interested in joining the City team, then please e-mail for more details.

Money raised from the event will go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital as well other local charities.
