Cambridge City Football Club is today announcing a partnership between their Supporters Trust and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). The charity, who has HRH The Duchess of Cambridge as their royal patron, supports families and cares for children with life threatening conditions across mid-Anglia. Their hospices are designed to be fun and happy places where young people can live life to their full potential.

The link between the club and the charity will include representatives from EACH attending games throughout the season where in addition to fundraising bucket collections children from EACH will be invited to be mascots for the day. In addition to this the club and their new charity partner will also jointly host several other fundraising events throughout the season.

Alice Dewey from the City Supporters Trust said “It is a great partnership to create for both of us. The club is constantly looking to raise its awareness and increase their community profile which is even more important with the move to the new stadium at Sawston on the horizon”.

Peter Law, EACH Cambridgeshire Community Fundraiser, said: “We are thrilled that Cambridge City Football Club has chosen EACH as their charity partners and I’d like to thank them for this generous support and we very much look forward to working with them. The charity is reliant on voluntary donations for the majority of our income so without the support of local businesses like Cambridge City Football Club we would simply not be able to continue to provide these vital services to families at a time when they need it the most.”

The City Supporters Trust are inviting fans to aid the playing budget this season by contributing a regular amount throughout the campaign.

Starting 01 August a suggested donation of £5 per week payable by direct debit to the Trust would significantly help pay a players wages, but please help with whatever you can afford as it all adds up.

So far the Trust have a good number of fans in the scheme. All money will help pay a players wage and the Trust will announce who the player is before the start of the season.

Please contact Steve Warne or Alice Dewey from the Supporters Trust Board for further details.

Following the success of the quid a goal scheme which raised over £2,500 in the last 3 years, your Supporters Trust are starting s new initiative for next season.

The pay for a player scheme wants you the fans to be part of your club and indeed increase the bond between players and fans:

Just £5 per week will enable us to pay for the wages of a key player. So why not help fund a fans favourite, or help bring a youth team player to the fore by supplementing his pay. The player in question will be revealed before the start of the season if there is enough support.

So why not help pay for a player. Get involved, and be part of your club
